A crowd of over 48 thousand crazed Oriole fans watched a great outing from Chen. He overcame two errors and a missed tag at the plate and still kept the Yankees to two runs, only one earned and thre 112 pitches.
A two out rally by the Orioles, who trailed by one in the third inning, was capped by a Chris Davis single that plated Robert Andino and Nate McLouth.
Matt Wieters doubled and Mark Rynolds singled for the third run in the sixth.
A Nunez double and Jeter single tightened th game up in the seventh. Brilliant pitching by Darren O'Day and Brian Matusz handed the game off to last nights's goat Jim Johnson and he finished off the top of the Yankees' lineup by stinking out Alex Rodriguez to save the game.
The crowd went wild.
The Orioles head to New York tied with the Yankees, one a piece, in a best of five series that resumes Wednesday.
