    Orioles Don't Hit

    Written by Bruce Smith (vatech1994)

The weary Orioles lost their third straight to Tampa by a score of 3-1 today at Tropicana Field.  The fat lady started singing as the game ended.  The Orioles have to have something beyond a miracle at this point or the season will end next Sunday.

Feldman pitched well over 6.1 innings and the relievers continued their excellent September with 1.2 scoreless innings.

The hitters continued to swing a leaded bat rather than wood at the plate.  The Birds ended up with three hits on the day, two came in the ninth, and one of those was a Tropicana field special off the catwalk.

The position players are mostly toast at this point.  They can't center the ball at the plate or get around on good fastballs.  The fatigue is also evident in the field as AJ dropped a tough but catchable fly ball that was ruled a hit.

The Birds finish the series with game four tomorrow.  It will be their last road game of the year as they return home the next day for six games to finish the regular season.
