    Written by Chris Slade

The Orioles announced today that they have officially signed their top three picks from this year's MLB draft: 3rd Rounder Brian Gonzalez (LHP), 4th Rounder Pat Connaughton (RHP), and 5th Rounder David Hess (RHP).

Gonzalez, a burly lefthander from Archbishop McCarthy high school in Florida, was the Orioles lone prep pick among their top ten selections.

Connaughton pitched for Notre Dame where he is also a well-known member of their basketball team as a guard. The Orioles reached an agreement with Connaughton that will allow him to participate in his Senior year of basketball for the Irish.

Hess pitched at Tennessee Tech where he was their best starter as well as the top draft prospect in the Ohio Valley Conference according to Baseball America.
