I was on XM fantasy with Casey Stern and I said that the 29 1 run wins and the 19 extra inning wins will not be there for the Orioles in 2013. BUT that the Orioles will have more options than they had in the "Nick Johnson, Endy Chavez, Steve Pearce, Steve Tolleson,Omar Quintanilla,
Ronny Paulino" roster. Don’t forget the Orioles also had Dana Eveland in their rotation at one point.
Simply put, EVEN with the loss of Reynolds and Saunders, this is a better roster top
to bottom, though I would like to be secure that Reimold/ Mclouth and a healthy
Nick will pick up some of the power loss with the Reynolds departure.
Remember, only 2 of the 19 extra innings wins were won by "manufactured runs".
That means that the offense and the pen had to be extra clutch and not depend on
stolen bases, small ball and managerial maneuvers.
I think Bundy, maybe Gausman and possibly even Schoop could be a factor this
year. Will I think we will be better in 2013? Not likely. Could we be pretty good? Sure.
I think we will finish with between 84 and 87 wins. I think the Jays are the class of
the division because they really went to work.
Speed, pitching, power and defense.
Pretty impressive team.
I think the Orioles will be fun to watch again. That’s what I said on the radio.
