When the Yankees lose, an Angel gets his wings

Ok, call me petty, but I sure do take pleasure in watching the Yankee$ and their bloated payroll get beaten in the playoffs. The Yankees’ advantage due to their ridiculous payroll basically guarantees them the playoffs every year, after all, they’ve been to the playoffs in 16 of the last 17 years, and the year they didn’t make it they still won 89 games.

But the best thing about the playoffs is that anything can happen in a five game set and the Yankees keep finding ways to come up small in the playoffs. It appears that the mercenary approach is helpful over a 162 game schedule, but perhaps the team just assumes it will cruise through the playoffs as well because the regular season is so easy? I don’t know, but the Yankees have won just one World Series over the last 11 years and that makes me happy.

It’s a small victory for those of us that hate the uneven playing field that Major League Baseball allows.
