Were the wheels even on this team?

Since going 12 games over .500 (39-27) on Jun 17th, the Orioles are 7-16 over their last 23 games and 1-3 since the All-Star break. During this span they have gone from 1.5 games out of first place to nine games out of first place.

The O's are two games out of last place in the AL East. We are two and half games behind the Angels for the wild card and the Angels have beaten the O's in seven of nine games this year.

Since June 1st the Orioles are 17-21 (.447). Only Seattle, Kansas City and Oakland have worse winning percentages in the AL.

The Orioles have scored 368 runs, and allowed 423 runs for a Pythagorean W-L of  39-50 (.438).

So in other words, the Orioles have been very, very lucky and are regressing to their talent level.

The wheels haven't fallen off, they just really weren't on there to begin with.
