OF Cedric Mullins Named Eastern League Player of the Week
BOWIE, Md.– Baysox outfielder Cedric Mullins has been named the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of April 6-16 after hitting safely in all 10 of his games thus far and recording six multi-hit affairs.
Mullins becomes the first Baysox since OF Julio Borbon received the award for the week of July 4-10, 2016.
The Greensboro, N.C. native is currently hitting .455 (20-44) with three home runs, eight RBIs, five doubles, 15 runs scored and three stolen bases this season.
Mullins leads the league in runs (15), hits (20), extra base hits (9), total bases (36) and is tied for the league lead in triples (1), while also ranking in the top five in numerous other offensive categories.
In a 13-7 win at Akron on Opening Night, the 22-year-old went 4-5 with a triple, home run, two RBI and four runs scored. The round-tripper came in his first at-bat of the season.
Mullins entered the season ranked as the No. 26 prospect in the Orioles system according to Baseball America and was originally selected by BAL in the 13th round of the 2015 draft out of Campbell University (NC).
