David Hess had a tough fourth inning. Donnie Hart is a fine AAA pitcher and Mike Wright Jr. He’s not the closer you’re looking for.
David Hess continues to flounder and the Orioles left him take his lumps today. He committed two errors and allowed seven runs, five earned in only three and one third innings.
New second baseman Jonathan Villar had three hits in five trips today. Renato Nunez had two hits, one a double. Tim Beckham went two for four.
Evan Phillips – called up to help keep Danny Valencia from pitching – had a perfect two innings in his Orioles debut, striking out three. Evan is from Maryland and grew up a Cal Ripken fan. He was a part of the recent Kevin Gausman trade and comes from the Atlanta system.
Clay Carroll is old hat anymore in the Orioles pen and tossed a scoreless inning. Mike Wright Jr. gave up the final three runs.
Tim Beckham erred again as well as Hess.
