What we know:
A young switch-hitting shortstop who was acquired in the Jonathan Schoop trade, is all about projection at this stage of his career. Doesn’t really have a plus tool, but doesn’t have a major weakness either toolwise. Has well below average strength and looked overmatched at times. Was probably not ready for the New York Penn League last year after the trade and struggled. Appears to have enough arm to stay at shortstop, but some questions whether he has the agility or quickness to stay there long-term in a full-time basis. Didn’t have much of a plan at the plate and his plate discipline will need to improve greatly.
What we don’t know:
As he gets stronger, will his overall game improve? If he fills out, will he add more pop to his bat? Can he stay at shortstop or is he better suited to be a utility player?
What we think:
Right now it’s hard to see him as anything more than a potential utility guy though he has age on his side. Adam Hall is a head of him as a prospect and will get the majority of shortstop opportunities, so he could end up back in Aberdeen in 2019.
