What we know:
Tall left-hander who can flash major league stuff at times, had a nice summer in AAA before wearing down a but late in the summer. Fastball sits 90-92, but can touch 93-94 on occasion. It can flatten out more times then he would like so he needs to spot the pitch. His changeup can flash plus, and his slider has become a left on left out pitch at times, giving him some left-handed reliever possibilities.
What we don’t know:
If he moves to the bullpen, will his stuff play up a notch? If he stays a starter, can he become consistent enough to become an innings eater?
What we think:
Means took a bit of a step forward this season and has always been on the fringe of prospect status. His upside is probably a swingman or long reliever unless he finds more consistency from start to start. The bullpen might be a better option for him.
