The New York Yankees beat the Orioles 2-1 in 10 innings. D.J. LeMahieu scored the walk-off run on a Luke Voit sacrifice fly; LeMahieu was able to score after taking third on a Hunter Harvey (Loss, 0-2) wild pitch.
Orioles starter Dean Kremer deserved better based on his performance: 5.0 innings pitched, 1 run, 4 hits, 3 walks and 7 strikeouts. Ironically enough, Kremer’s lone run allowed was tallied on a Clint Frazier sacrifice fly that scored LeMahieu in the first inning.
Hanser Alberto scored the lone Baltimore run on a Ryan Mountcastle RBI double. Mountcastle finished 2 for 3 with the aforementioned double, 1 RBI and 1 walk. The Orioles managed a total of 4 hits in the game.
The loss dropped the Birds to 20-25, 4.5 games out of the final Wild Card spot. They are now tied with the Mariners and the Tigers for that spot.
