Quick Scouting Report Update: The first overslot player drafted by the Orioles after saving money by drafting Heston Kjerstad with the second overall selection, this 18-year old power hitting third baseman was drafted in the 4th round and signed for $1,775,000 (early 2nd round money) to buy him out of his Forida University commitment.

At 6-5, 215 pounds already, he brings big time power potential along with a power arm from third base. His lack of senior year, price tag, the fact that his swing can be a bit inconsistent was most likely why he was still available in the 4th round. Saying that, he had an exit velocity of 107 MPH in a game during his abbreviated senior year, and can put up some light tower power already at a young age.

There are some question marks about his footwork and him growing out of even third base, but he moves well enough that if his footwork doesn’t come around at 3B, he can be moved to RF to take advantage of his hose. May have as much upside as Kjerstad, but is so raw and with such limited experience, he has an extreme risk profile. He could be a top five prospect at the end of next season or off the list, but this is a guy to be excited about if he fulfills his potential.
