The Baltimore Orioles beat the New York Yankees 4-3 in 11 innings on Wednesday. Tied at 2 after 9 innings, both team scored in their respective halves of the 10th inning. The Orioles scored in the top of the 11th and the bullpen made it stick for the win.
Chance Sisco’s (1 for 1, 1 RBI) pinch-hit single scored Rio Ruiz for what proved to be the winning run in the top of the 11th. Paul Fry came in to pitch the bottom of the 11th and induced an out on Brett Gardner’s sacrifice bunt. The game ended when DJ LeMahieu flied out to Anthony Santander who then threw out Gio Urshela at home, earning Fry the save.
Cedric Mullins (1 for 4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB) and Santander (1 for 5, 2 R, 1 RBI) both homered in the 4th inning.
John Means started and gave up 1 run on 7 hits while striking out 4 and walking 1. Cesar Valdez was credited with the win for his 2.1 innings of relief. The right-hander gave up 1 run on 2 hits and struck out 3.
