The Seattle Mariners defeated the Baltimore Orioles 4-3 in 8 innings in Game 1 of Tuesday’s doubleheader.
The Orioles entered the 5th inning trailing 3-0 until a Ramon Urias (1 for 2, 1 R, 2 RBI) two-run homer drew them within 1 run. DJ Stewart’s seventh inning RBI single scored Ryan Mountcastle to tie the game at 3.
Kyle Seager’s double in the 8th inning scored Mitch Haniger for what proved to be the winning run as the O’s went three-up and three down in their half of the 8th inning.
John Means started the game and gave up 3 runs on five hits with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts over 5.0 innings of work, He surrendered homeruns to Ty France and Tom Murphy. Tanner Scott was tagged with the loss.
Cedric Mullins went 1 for 3 (hitting .450 on the season) with a walk while Mountcastle went 1 for 3 with a run scored and a double.
