Scoring all their runs in the final three innings, the Baltimore Orioles beat the Texas Rangers 6-1 on Saturday.
Cedric Mullins’ (1 for 5, 1 RBI) 7th inning single brought Freddy Galvis home for the Birds’ first run. Galvis had quite the game; the shortstop went 4 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored.
Trey Mancini (2 for 5, 1 2B, 1 RBI) and Ryan Mountcastle (0 for 3, 1 RBI) each knocked in a run in the 8th inning.
DJ Stewart’s (2 for 5, 1 R, 1 RBI) RBI single and Maikel Franco’s (3 for 5, 2 R, 2 RBI) two-run homerun in the 9th capped off the scoring for the night.
Defensively, the Orioles turned a sweet double play to end the 4th inning (Galvis flipped the ball to Rio Ruiz who relayed it to Mountcastle) in support of starter, Dean Kremer (4,2 IP, 1 R, 5 H, 1 BB, 6 K). Wade LeBlanc (1.1 IP, 1 H, 1 K) was solid in relief and Travis Lakins, Sr (1.0 IP, 1 K) earned his first win of the year.
The Rangers’ lone run was the result of a David Dahl RBI single in the 4th inning.
