The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Miami Marlins 7-5 on Tuesday at loanDepot Park.
The Birds jumped out to a 6-1 lead with the help of solo homeruns by Trey Mancini (2 for 4, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB) and Freddy Galvis (2 for 3, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 BB). Galvis’ 8th inning RBI single scored Rio Ruiz (2 for 4, 1 R, 2 RBI) for what proved to be an insurance run.
The team win gave Matt Harvey (5.0 IP, 3 R, 8 H, 4 K) his first win of the season. Harvey helped himself with the glove; he turned a nifty double play on a Lewis Brinson line drive to the mound in the 4th inning.
Three Orioles’ relievers, Adam Plutko, Tanner Scott and Paul Fry, were all credited with holds and Cesar Valdez (1.1 IP, 3 K) earned the save.
