The Baltimore Orioles returned to Camden Yards for a seven game homestand and began it with a 3-1 loss to the Oakland Athletics.
The win extended the A’s winning streak to 12 games.
Despite recording 10 hits, the Orioles were 2 for 9 with runners in scoring position. Maikel Franco (2 for 3, 1 BB), Trey Mancini (2 for 4, 1 R), Cedric Mullins (2 for 5, 1 2B) and Pedro Severino (2 for 4, 1 RBI) all had multiple hits in the game.
Severino’s 6th inning single with the bases loaded and one out scored Mancini for the lone Baltimore run. Freddy Galvis popped out and Ramon Urias hit into a force to end the threat.
Jorge Lopez (1-3, 8.15 ERA) started and took the loss, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits, including a Ramon Laureano homerun in the 5th inning, while walking 2 and striking out 1 over 4.0 innings pitched. The Laureano longball resulted in Lopez’s exit from the game.
Four relievers combined to pitch the final 5.0 innings and as a group allowed 2 hits and struck out 5.
