John Means made his return from the IL on Tuesday and it did not go as many had hoped. Means was tagged with the 9-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays, a loss that ended the Orioles modest three-game winning streak. He is now 4-3 on the season.
Means made it through 5.0 innings, allowing 5 runs on 7 hits while striking out 2 and surrendering homeruns to Randy Arozarena and Brandon Lowe.
Cesar Valdez relieved Means and struck out 1 in 2.0 innings pitched. Shaun Anderson did not do as well, however, He pitched the eighth inning and allowed 4 runs, 3 earned, on 3 hits with a walk.
Anthony Santander went 2 for 4, both hits doubles, with a run scored and 1 RBI. Pedro Severino (1 for 4, 1 RBI) and Ryan Mountcastle (0 for 3, 1 Run Scored, 1 RBI) accounted for the other Baltimore runs. Cedric Mullins (1 for 5), Ramon Urias (1 for 3, 1 BB) and Trey Mancini (1 for 4) rounded out the Orioles 6 hit total.
