The time of Thursday’s game with the Tampa Bay Ray may have changed but the outcome was the same, a game in the loss column. Playing in the afternoon on get-away day, the Orioles fell by a score of 7-2. The current losing streak has now reached 15 games and with the loss a sub-.500 season is sealed.

Interestingly enough, the Orioles are 1-15 against the Rays so far this season.

Jorge Mateo extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a 2 for 4 day at the plate.

Ramon Urias went 2 for 4 with a double, a homerun, his sixth, 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.

Pedro Severino went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk.

Cedric Mullins (1 for 4), Ryan Mountcastle (1 for 4) and Richie Martin (1 for 3, 1 BB) accounted for the remainder of the team’s 8 hits.

The team left 6 men on base and went 1 for 6 with runners in scoring position.

Starter Jorge Lopez just didn’t have it on Thursday. He allowed 4 runs on 4 hits, one a Brandon Lowe homerun that managed to clear the rings of the Tropicana Field roof, walked 2 and struck out 2 over 2.0 innings. The loss dropped his record to 3-14.

Fernando Abad relieved Lopez and didn’t do much better, allowing 3 runs on 2 hits with 2 walks over 1.1 innings. And with that the game was essentially over in the fourth inning.
