The Baltimore Orioles won Tuesday’s game with the Toronto Blue Jays by a score of 4-2. As the calendar changes, it was a good way to end the month of August; the win was just the team’s third of the month. The Birds were 3-25 during the month of August.
The win was setup on the mound. Starter Keegan Akin won his second game in a row with a solid 5.0 inning effort. The young lefty allowed 1 run (a Danny Jansen homerun) on 2 hits with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts.
The bullpen took it from there. Jorge Lopez allowed 1 run (a Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. homerun) on 3 hits with 1 walk over 1.2 innings. Tyler Wells (1.1 IP, 1 H) and Cole Sulser (1.0 IP, 1 K) kept the Blue Jays off the scoreboard the rest of the way with Sulser getting the save, his 6th.
Ryan Mountcastle went 1 for 4 with a double and 1 run scored.
Ramon Urias went 1 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI.
Austin Hays (1 for 4, 1 Run Scored, 1 RBI) and Jahmai Jones (1 for 3, 1 RBI) knocked in the rest of the O’s runs.
As September begins, the hope is that the Orioles can turn the page.
