Limited to six hits and going 0-9 with runners in scoring position, the Orioles completed their first road trip of the season by falling to the Tampa Bay Rays 8-0. The winless team will return to Baltimore for an Opening Day matchup with the Milwaukee Brewers at 3:05 pm on Monday.

Ryan Mountcastle was the only Oriole batter with multiple hits going 2 for 4.

Austin Hays (1 for 3, 1 BB) and Trey Mancini (1 for 3, 1 BB) each tallied extra base hits (doubles) for the Birds.

Cedric Mullins went 1 for 3 with a walk and a stolen base.

Starter Tyler Wells (0-1) allowed 4 runs on 3 hits (1 homerun) while walking 2 and striking out 2 over 1.2 innings and took the loss. That 4 run hole after two innings was too much for the Orioles to dig out of.

Felix Bautista was efficient in relief. The right-hander needed 16 pitches to navigate 1.1 innings, allowing 1 hit and striking out 2.

Joey Krehbiel allowed 2 hits, walked 1 and struck out 1 during his 2.0 innings of work.

As the Orioles return home to Baltimore one thing is certain, there will be an orange carpet for the team to run on. Here’s hoping the next O fans see will be on the Friday alternate cap.
