The Baltimore Orioles shutout the New York Yankees 5-0 on Sunday at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The game was a scoreless affair for seven and one half innings and then the Orioles’ half of the eighth happened.

The inning opened with a Ryan Mountcastle (2 for 4, 1 Run Scored) single. Trey Mancini (0 for 2, 1 Run Scored, 2 BB) walked and two outs later, a Robinson Chirinos (0 for 3, 1 Run Scored, 1 BB) walk loaded the bases. A pinch-hit single by Rougned Odor (1 for 1, 1 Run Scored, 2 RBI) put the Birds up 2-0.

Kelvin Gutierrez (2 for 4, 1 2B, 1 Run Scored, 2 RBI) doubled in two more runs and Jorge Mateo (3 for 4, 1 RBI, 1 Stolen Base) singled in the fifth and final Baltimore run.

Jorge Lopez (2.0 IP, 2 K) made it stick by inducing three straight groundouts to earn the win, his first, and is now 1-1 on the season.

Making the start was Bruce Zimmermann, who allowed 4 hits, walked 2 and struck out 6 over 5.0 innings.
