The Baltimore Orioles made the most of their first trip to St. Louis in thirteen years by defeating the Cardinals 5-3 Tuesday night. The win was the third in a row for the Orioles. Casey Stengel‘s adage that “Good pitching will always stop good hitting” was on display again as an Orioles hurler made another quality start.

Providing the quality on this night was right-hander Kyle Bradish (1-1) who allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, walked none and struck out 11 over 7.0 innings to earn the win. The two runs came on a Harrison Bader inside-the-park homerun in the sixth inning (Yadier Molina was on base via a double). Bradish faced two batters over the minimum and tossed 90 pitches (64 strikes) in doing so. The defense assisted, turning two double plays.

Cedric Mullins led the offense by going 4 for 5 with a homerun, 2 runs scored, 2 RBI and a stolen base.

Tyler Nevin also got to wear the homerun chain, going 1 for 4 with a homerun, 1 run scored and 1 RBI.

Anthony Santander went 3 for 5 with a double and 1 RBI.

Felix Bautista earned his first save by striking out Tyler O’Neill on a tipped third strike to end the game. His efficient line: 0.1 IP, 5 pitches, 1 K.
