Anthony Santander’s ninth inning homerun on Thursday provided a walk-off win against the New York Yankees. Friday night, Rougned Odor did him one better. Odor’s two run homerun in the thirteenth inning provided a walk-off win, ending both a 4 hour 22 minute contest and the Tampa Bay Rays 15 game winning streak over the Orioles. The final score was Baltimore 8, Tampa Bay 6.
Odor entered the game in the 11th inning as a pinch hitter for Robinson Chirinos (0 for 4, 1 run scored) and finished the game with the homerun chain around his neck and a batting line of 1 for 2, 1 homerun, 1 run scored and 2 RBI. Odor’s homerun also gave Nick Vespi (2.0 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 3 K) a win in his MLB debut.
Tied at 3 at the end of nine innings, the teams matched runs in the 10th (2), 11th (1) and 12th (0) innings before Odor sent the faithful home happy.
Tyler Nevin went 2 for 6 with a double and 2 runs scored.
Chris Owings went 1 for 3 with a double and was pinch hit for in the 11th.
Trey Mancini went 2 for 4 with 1 RBI and a walk.
Starter Tyler Wells allowed 3 runs on 2 hits (1 homerun), walked 2 and struck out 4 over 4.2 innings.
Keegan Akin had another solid outing, allowing 2 hits and striking out 2 over 2.1 innings of relief.
