Wednesday’s series finale with the New York Yankees ended with the Baltimore Orioles on the wrong end of a 2-0 score. Five singles were all the O’s bats could muster and those same bats were 0 for 8 with runners in scoring position. The Orioles even had runners on first and third in the 9th inning and couldn’t push a run across.
Tyler Wells (1-4), the victim of the lack of offense, was tagged with the loss. Wells allowed the 2 Yankees runs on 5 hits and struck out 2 in 5.0 innings pitched. He saw his team put runners into scoring position in both the first and second innings without cashing in to support him.
Adley Rutschman went 2 for 4.
Cedric Mullins went 1 for 3 with a walk and a stolen base.
Austin Hays (1 for 4) and Rougned Odor (1 for 3, 1 BB) added to the totality of Orioles hits.
