The Baltimore Orioles traveled to Toronto to begin a four game series on Monday. Due to Covid-19 vaccination status, Keegan Akin and Anthony Santander were unable to make the trip. In order to compensate for their absence, the team called up RHP Rico Garcia and OF Kyle Stowers. With members of his family in the stands, Stowers made his MLB debut in left field. Toronto rained on that debut with an 11-1 win over the Orioles.

For the record, Stowers went 1 for 3 with a double, 1 RBI and was hit by a pitch. His first MLB at-bat was a strike out swinging.

Adley Rutschman went 1 for 4 with a run scored. Jorge Mateo had a multi-hit game. going 2 for 4 while Ryan Mountcatle went 1 for 4. Mateo’s third inning single was the only hit the Orioles managed through 6.1 innings.

Kyle Bradish (1-4) took the loss by allowing 5 runs on 9 hits, walking 1 and striking out 3 over 4.1 innings.

Rico Garcia made his Orioles debut in the 7th inning and pitched 2.0 innings. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits and struck out 1; he also surrendered Vladimir Guerrero, Jr’s 15th homerun of the year leading off the 8th inning.
