The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 6-5 Tuesday night at the Rogers Centre. The Orioles out hit and out homered the Blue Jays, 10 to 8 and 2 to 1, respectively.
Starter Jordan Lyles did just enough to record the win. He allowed 4 runs on 5 hits, walked 2, struck out 7, threw a wild pitch and hit Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. with a pitch in 5.1 innings of work. Lyles did surrender Matt Chapman’s 8th homerun of the year as well. Jorge Lopez received a save in support of Lyles for his 1.2 inning pitched, 1 strike out effort.
Ryan Mountcastle led the offense with a 3 for 5 night in which he hit two doubles and a homerun, scored twice and had 2 RBI.
Austin Hays went 1 for 5 with a homerun, 1 run scored and 1 RBI.
Robinson Chirinos went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and 1 RBI.
It is possible that Jorge Mateo may not be allowed to leave Canada after stealing 2 bases in 3 attempts on a night when he went 1 for 3 with a run scored and a walk. His run scored in the 6th inning was the eventual game-winning run.
