Despite Sunday’s 7-5 loss at the hands of the Tampa Bay Rays, the Baltimore Orioles have much to be positive about. They reach the unofficial “half-way” point of the 2022 season with a 46-46 record. It took the 2021 Birds 48 more games to win their 46th game of the season; they reached the 46 win mark on game number 140 (9/10/21). It is possible that the Orioles collectively did not want the four-day All-Star break.

Sunday’s game saw the Orioles go down 6-0 after 3 innings. They chipped away at it and scored 4 runs to draw within 2. Tampa answered right back with their 7th run in the bottom of the 6th. Baltimore rallied for a run in the 8th on Austin Hays’ (2 for 4, 2 runs scored, 1 RBI) 12th homerun of the season. The Orioles went 3 up, 3 down in the 9th.

The bullpen covered the final 5.1 innings by allowing just 1 run on 4 hits with 9 strikeouts and 1 homerun allowed.
