The Baltimore Orioles shut-out the Tampa Bay Rays 3-0 on Thursday afternoon. On what was the inaugural Mo Gaba Day in Baltimore, one of Gaba’s closest friend on the team, Trey Mancini (2 for 4, 1 run scored, 2 RBI) put the icing on the cake with his eighth inning inside-the-park-homerun.
Mancini’s homerun was the result of a high fly ball to right that caromed off right fielder Josh Lowe’s face and rolled away enough for Mancini’s run around the bases. The homerun allowed Austin Hays (1 for 3, 2 runs scored, 1 SB) to score as well. Former Orioles, Shawn Armstrong gave up Mancini’s homerun.
Anthony Santander (2 for 4, 1 RBI) doubled in the Orioles first run in the third inning.
Tyler Nevin went 1 for 2.
Jordan Lyles (7-8) gained the win with his 3 hit, 4 walk, 4 strikeout 5.2 scoreless inning effort.
