In one of the oddities of the 2022 season, condensed due to the lock-out, the Baltimore Orioles made a stop in Boston on their way to Tampa Bay (games Friday through Sunday). The stop was a disappointing one as the Orioles lost to the Red Sox 4-3.

Boston took an early 3-0 lead only to see the Orioles tie the game with a sixth inning rally. Cedric Mullins (2 for 4) led off the inning with a single. Adley Rutschman (0 for 3, 1 Run Scored, 1 BB) followed up with a walk. After a force out Terrin Vavra (2 for 4, 1 Run Scored, 2 RBI) tripled in two runs and then scored on an Austin Hays (1 for 4, 1 RBI) single that was overturned on challenge.

Boston answered with a run in their half of the sixth that proved to be the winning run; the Orioles only managed to get two base runners on base over the final three innings (singles in both the seventh and ninth innings).

Starting pitcher Dean Kremer (4-4) gave up 4 runs on 6 hits while walking 1 and striking out 6 over 5.2 innings and took the loss.

Jorge Mateo went 1 for 4 with a stolen base.
