Simply on the strength of five homeruns, the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Oakland Athletics 8-1 on Saturday. While the game featured an Orioles soccer jersey giveaway, the score was not soccer like.

Ryan Mountcastle started the homerun party with two-run homers in both the first and third innings. He finished the night 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 4 RBI.

In the fourth inning Cedric Mullins (1 for 4, 2 runs scored, 1 RBI, 1 BB) and Anthony Santander (1 for 4, 2 runs scored, 1 RBI, 1 BB) each hit solo homeruns.

The final homerun came off the bat of Adley Rutschman in the eighth inning. Rutschman, who knocked in a run in the sixth finished the game 2 for 5 with 1 run scored and 2 RBI.

The homerun chain got quite a workout,

Jorge Mateo went 2 for 4 with a double, 1 run scored and a stolen base.

The power display picked up starter Austin Voth (3.1 IP, 1 R, 6 H, 4 K, 1 hit batter), who did not have his best stuff.

Keegan Akin (3-1) struck out 1 in 2.0 innings pitched to get the win. He induced a double play upon entering in the fourth inning to get the Orioles out of a bases loaded situation.

DL Hall struck out 2 in 1.0 inning of work.
