Saturday’s 8-0 loss by the Baltimore Orioles did not put the Yankee faithful in a “New York State of Mind”. The game was not what they came to see, homerun #62 by Aaron Judge was. Baltimore pitchers were booed in increasing volume with each non-strike thrown and by Judge’s fourth and fifth at bat it was ugly. For the record, Judge went 0 for 2 with a run scored, 2 walks, 2 strikeouts and was hit by a pitch.
The Orioles were held to one hit through 8.1 innings and finished the game with only three hits. Baltimore’s hits came from Jorge Mateo (1 for 2, 1 BB), Ryan Mountcastle (1 for 3, 1 BB) and Adley Rutschman (1 for 4, 1 2B). It wasn’t until the ninth inning that the Orioles managed to put a runner in scoring position; they went 0 for 2 with Mountcastle at third base to end the game.
Austin Voth (5-4) started and allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, surrendered 2 homeruns, walked 2, struck out 3 and hit 2 batters over 5.0 innings. He took the loss.
Spenser Watkins allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, walked 1 and struck out 2 over 3.0 innings of relief.
