The Texas Rangers defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday by a score of 5-2. The story of the game, however, was the long anticipated MLB debut of RHP Grayson Rodriguez. The Orioles top prospect and MLB Pipeline’s #6 overall prospect got the call when Kyle Bradish was placed on the 15 day IL.
Rodriguez faced 20 batters, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, walking 1, striking out 5 and throwing a wild pitch over 5.0 innings. He retired the side in both the 2nd and the 5th innings, throwing 83 pitches (53 strikes).
Ryan Mountcastle went 1 for 4 with a double and a run scored.
