The Baltimore Orioles lost Sunday’s game with the New York Yankees by a score of 5-3. With the loss, the Orioles have now dropped two series to AL East rivals (Boston & NY). The Yankees relied mainly on the long ball to beat the Birds, hitting three homeruns (Aaron Judge 2 and Franchy Cordero 1) in the game.
Countering those blasts was Adley Rutschman (4 for 4, 2 Runs Scored, 1 RBI), who hit a 408ft. homer to the right field flag court in the 8th inning. Rutschman is slashing .389/ .476/ .556/ 1.032 on the season so far.
Ryan Mountcastle went 1 for 4 with a double and 1 run scored.
Anthony Santander went 1 for 3 with a double, 2 RBI and a walk.
That was the totality of the Baltimore offense, 6 hits.
Tyler Wells (0-1) started and was tagged with the loss for his 6.0 IP, 6 H (2 HR), 4 R, 6 K effort. The bats simply did not support him.
Mike Baumann struck out 2 pitching the ninth inning.
