The Baltimore Orioles were shut out 5-0 by the Cleveland Guardians on Memorial Day. It wasn’t pretty as the Orioles were limited to three hits over the first eight innings before mounting a “rally” in the ninth.
The ninth inning started with an Anthony Santander (3 for 4) double. Ryan Mountcastle (1 for 4) singled, moving Santander to third; two on and none out. The rally ended with a Ramon Urias (0 for 4) flyout, a Gunnar Henderson (0 for 1) pinch-hit strikeout and an Adam Frazier (0 for 4) groundout sent the crowd of 25,249 home.

In what looks like it was an omen, Cedric Mullins (0 for 2, 2 BB) walked to open the first and was then thrown out at second on a strike ’em out throw ’em out play. Mullins left the game in the eighth after straining his right groin running to first base.
James McCann went 1 for 3 with a double.
A Tyler Wells (3-2) quality start (6.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 7 K, 1 Balk) was wasted, tagging him with the loss.
The game got away from Cionel Perez in the seventh. After inducing a groundout, three singles and a double chased Perez from the game with a line of 0.1 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 2 ER).
