The Baltimore Orioles seemed to be in the driver’s seat Tuesday night in Philadelphia, that is, until they weren’t. A strong start by Kyle Gibson (6.0 IP, 2 R, 4 H, 1 HR, 5 K) combined with a nice relief effort by Shintaro Fujinami (2.0 IP, 3 K) gave the Orioles a 3-2 lead going into the bottom of the ninth. A Phillies rally with a runner on first and two outs ended with a 4-3 loss for the Orioles.
Yennier Cano (1-2) was the victim of the Philadelphia rally and the losing pitcher as well. Cano allowed 2 runs on 4 hits and struck out 1 in two-thirds of an inning.
An eighth inning homerun by Ryan O’Hearn (1 for 4, 1 R, 1 RBI) had given the team the lead going into the fateful ninth.
