It is doubtful that former Baltimore manager Buck Showalter has many fond memories of his return trip to Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Showalter’s Mets were shutout 2-0 on Sunday by the Baltimore Orioles. The win completed a three game sweep of the Metropolitans from Queens. In an interview Sunday Showalter said “Not too good,”. For the weekend series, the Orioles out-scored and out-hit the Mets 19-6 and 30-15 respectively while drawing a total of 100,976 fans to the Yard.howalter said

The game was scoreless through 4.5 innings. The Orioles put a run on the board in the bottom of the fifth when starting center fielder Jorge Mateo (1 for 2, 1 R) tripled with one out and scored on an Adley Rutschman (0 for 3, 1 RBI, 1 BB) ground ball to third.

In the seventh the Orioles strung together a James McCann (1 for 3, 1 R) double, a Ryan McKenna (1 for 3) single and a Ryan O’Hearn (0 for 1, 1 RBI) ground ball to pitcher Trevor Gott that the Mets failed to turn a double play on to score their second and final run.

Baltimore starter Kyle Bradish had a short outing, pitching 4.2 innings, surrendering 3 hits, issuing 5 walks and striking out 5. Bradish also threw a wild pitch and hit a batter. The bullpen took it from there, with four relievers combining to allow just 1 hit over 4.1 innings.

Winning pitcher Cionel Perez (4-1) walked 1 in 1.1 innings, Cole Irvin (1.0 IP, 1 K) and Shintaro Fujinami (1.0 IP, 2 K) bridged the game to Felix Bautista (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 K) who earned his 30th save of the season.

Fujinami threw 9 pitches, all strikes with six at 100+ mph. and one of those topping out at 103 mph. He even took part in the frivolity during a bullpen interview of Mike Baumann.
