The Baltimore Orioles ended their nine-game homestand with a 10-5 loss to the Chicago White Sox Wednesday. What started out looking to be a laugher turned into a frustration and loss.

The Orioles scored four times in the first inning with a mixture of hits, head’s up base running and defensive hesitation by thw Chi-Sox. Once again, Anthony Santander (2 for 4, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 R, 2 RBI) was in the middle of the scoring; it was his RBI double that began the scoring.

Two two-run homeruns by the Pale Hose in the second inning tied the game at 4 apiece. Chicago hit a third homerun (solo) in a three-run third inning extending their lead. All this helped chase starter Kyle Gibson (13-8) from the game in the fifth inning. Gibson’s line was 4.1 IP, 7 R, 9 H, 2 K, 3 HR’s, a line that resulted in his 8th loss of 2023.

Santander hit his 26th homerun 369 ft. to right-center in the third inning.

Chicago jumped on reliever Austin Voth (1.2 IP, 3 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 2 K) in the sixth inning to put the game out of reach. The inning included a rare miscue by Cedric Mullins (0 for 3, 1 R, 1 HBP) when a Tim Anderson line drive that landed in front of him and skipped under his glove resulting in a triple (originally ruled as a hit and error, later changed to a hit).

Jacob Webb pitched a solid ninth inning, walking 2 and striking out 2.

Gunnar Henderson went 1 for 3 with a double, 1 run scored and a walk.

Ryan O’Hearn went 1 for 4 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI.

Adam Frazier went 2 for 4 with 1 RBI and a stolen base.
