John Means (0-1) returned to the mound for the Baltimore Orioles after a 517 day absence for Tommy John surgery Tuesday evening. The Orioles dropped the game to the St. Louis Cardinals by a score of 5-2. Means did his part to keep the Orioles in the game, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits (2 HR) and striking out 1 in 5.0 innings of work. He was tagged with the loss more so because the offense went 1 for 12 with runners in scoring position.

Jorge Lopez had a rough night, allowing 2 runs on 1 hit (1 HR), walking 1 and striking out 2 in 1.2 innings of relief. In contrast, Cole Irvin pitched the 8th and 9th innings and allowed 2 hits and struck out 1.
The Orioles managed the same 9 hits the Cardinals did, they just couldn’t get them to cross the plate.
Anthony Santander went 2 for 5 with a double and 1 RBI.
Gunnar Henderson went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and a walk.
Austin Hays went 2 for 4 with a double.
Adley Rutschman went 1 for 3 with 1 run scored and 2 walks.
Ryan O’Hearn went 0 for 3 with 1 RBI.
