NORFOLK TIDES (2-1) WON 7-0 OVER DURHAM BULLS (1-2) – AAA
NORFOLK WINS THE INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP
Game 3:
Norfolk jumped out to a 3-0 lead on a cool and damp (68 degrees and drizzle/rain) night in Harbor Park. The big blow in that three-run first inning was a Coby Mayo two-RBI ground rule double. Lewin Diaz (1 for 4, 1 RBI) knocked in a run in the third inning and while Norfolk pitching was holding the Bulls to three runs, Jackson Holliday and Mayo capped off the scoring in the eighth inning with a solo homerun and a two-run homerun, respectively. Norfolk relievers combined to pitch 5.0 no-hit innings. Wandisson Charles and Nick Vespi each walked 1 and struck out 1 in 1.0 inning of work. In the end, the Norfolk Tides shutout the Durham Bulls to claim the IL Championship. Next up for the Tides is the Triple-A Championship game against the Oklahoma City Dodgers Saturday in Las Vegas.
- Jackson Holliday went 1 for 4 with a homerun, 1 run scored and 1 RBI.
- Connor Norby went 2 for 5 with a triple and 2 runs scored.
- SP: Cade Povich allowed 3 hits, walked 3 and struck out 4 over 4.0 scoreless innings.
And that's it for Tides starter @Cpo22, tossing 4.0 scoreless outings in his championship start!!!
