Wednesday night’s game in Baltimore certainly was not an offensive barrage. The Bronx Bombers tallied 4 hits and the Baltimore Orioles tallied 3 in a 2-0 loss to the New York Yankees. The loss marked the first time that the Orioles have been shutout this season.
Wednesday’s starter Corbin Burnes (3-1) gave the O’s a quality start, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits with a walk ans 6 strikeouts. The runs came on an Oswaldo Cabrera two-run homerun in the fifth inning.
Shutting down the Baltimore offense was New York starter Luis Gil who allowed 2 singles over 6.1 innings while walking 1 and striking out 5. Gil earned the win while Burnes was tagged with the loss, his first of 2024.
Hitting singles in the game were Ryan O’Hearn (1 for 3, BB), Jordan Westburg (1 for 4) and Heston Kjerstad (1 for 2, HBP).
Mike Baumann struck out 1 in 2.0 innings of relief while Yohan Ramirez struck out 1 in the ninth inning.
