Monday’s Memorial Day contest with the Boston Red Sox ended with the Baltimore Orioles on the good side of an 11-3 score. Once again, an Orioles starter put forth a solid effort only to see a mamber of the bullpen almost flush the game down the drain.

Cole Irvin (5-2) held the Red Sox scoreless through 5.0 innings, allowing 4 hits while walking 3 and striking out 6. Jacob Webb pitched the sixth and seventh innings allowing a hit and 2 strikeouts.

Newly acquired Thyago Vieira began the eighth inning and immediately gave up 3 runs on 1 hit with 4 walks and a wild pitch without recording an out. Cionel Perez struck out 2 in getting the team out of the inning. Dillon Tate (1.0 IP, 2 K) closed out the game.

A total of seven extra base hits paced the win for the Birds. All told, the Orioles scored 5 runs in the fourth inning and 4 runs in the seventh and raced out to an 11-0 lead.

Kyle Stowers went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, 1 run scored and 4 RBI.

Ryan Mountcastle went 3 for 5 with a double, 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.

Cedric Mullins went 1 for 4 with a triple, 1 run scored and 2 RBI.

Jordan Westburg went 1 for 3 with a double, 1 run scored, 1 RBI and a walk.

Adley Rutschman went 1 for 4 with a double, 1 run scored and 2 RBI.

Jorge Mateo went 1 for 3 with a double, 1 run scored and 1 RBI.

Once again David Rubenstein was in attendance and tossed hats and koozies into the crowd and live hot dog races were introduced to Oriole Park with relish winning the initial race on ketchup, mustard and relish shirt give away day. The condiment covered hot dogs will race in person at select games the rest of the season.
