Thursday night’s game in Los Angeles was more of the recent same by the Baltimore Orioles offense. Four hits were all that the offense could produce over nine innings with the first hit coming in the fourth inning. The result on this night was a 6-3 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The hits were spread out among three players, Jackson Holliday (1 for 4, R), Anthony Santander (2 for 4) and Colton Cowser (1 for 3, HR, R, 3 RBI, 2 BB). Cowser’s homerun was his 20th of the season making him the third Oriole with 20+ homeruns on the season.
The loss was a tough one for starter Cade Povich (1-7). Pitching in Dodger Stadium for the first time, a stadium he visited frequently with his father, Povich allowed 5 runs on 10 hits with a walk and 3 strikeouts over 3.1 innings and threw 87 pitches (53 strikes) and was tagged with the loss.
The bullpen did its job. Four relievers combined to allow 1 run on 4 hits with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts over the final 4.2 innings with Matt Bowman (1.1 IP, R, 2 H, 3 BB, 2 K) contributing the majority of that line.
