At a time when the Baltimore Orioles needed a shot in the arm, they got one on Sunday. The return of Zach Eflin (10-7) from the IL was everything they could have hoped for and more. Eflin led the O’s to a 6-1 win over the Colorado Rockies.
Eflin earned the win with a stellar 7.0 inning performance in which he allowed 1 run on 4 hits while walking 1, striking out 9 and throwing a wild pitch. He threw 85 pitches, 63 of which were strikes. That effort gave the bullpen at bit of a break as only two relievers, Matt Bowman (1.0 IP, BB) and Gregory Soto (1.0 IP, 2 H, 2 K), were needed to close it out.
James McCann was the offensive star, going 2 for 4 with a double, a homerun, 1 run scored and 2 RBI.
Gunnar Henderson went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI, a walk and a stolen base.
Cedric Mullins went 1 for 4 with a run scored and 1 RBI.
Jackson Holliday went 1 for 4 with 1 run scored and a stolen base.
Coby Mayo went 1 for 2 with 1 run scored and was hit by a pitch.
