As the 2024 regular season winds down, so too does the Baltimore Orioles offense. The Orioles were shutout 10-0 by the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday evening. Five hits, two for extra-bases, were all Baltimore could produce in the losing effort.
Giants starter Blake Snell completely dominated the Orioles. He allowed just one hit and two walks over 6.0 innings while striking out twelve. Of Snell’s 98 pitches, 66 were strikes. The lone hit allowed was a second inning single by Emmanuel Rivera (1 for 2).
Baltimore starter Albert Suarez (8-6) was not at his best on Tuesday. The right-hander allowed 4 runs on 6 hits (HR) with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts over 3.1 innings and was tagged with the loss. Suarez surrendered a lead-off homerun to former Baltimore farmhand Mike Yastrzemski, a harbinger of things to come.
Craig Kimbrel was brought in to pitch the ninth inning and proceeded to have a complete meltdown. Seemingly delegated to mop up duties, he allowed 6 runs on 3 hits, 2 walks and 2 strikeouts in 0.2 inning.
Heston Kjerstad went 2 for 2.
Colton Cowser went 1 for 1 with a double.
Ryan O’Hearn went 1 for 2 with a double.
