The Baltimore Orioles were shutout 3-0 by the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday evening. The bats were stymied by Boston starter Garrett Crochet, who limited the Orioles to four singles over 8.0 innings of work. He walked 1 and struck out 8 as well. The only Oriole to get into scoring position was Ramon Laureano (1 for 3, 2 K) in the second inning.
The 2025 season certainly has been a bit of feast or famine for the Orioles as fas as the offense is concerned.
Jordan Westburg and Ryan Mountcastle each went 1 for 4.
Ramon Urias went 1 for 2 with a walk.
Tyler O’Neill went 0 for 4 with 3 strikeouts against his former team.
Crochet’s performance trumped the quality start by Zach Eflin (1-1). Eflin allowed 3 runs on 8 hits (HR) and struck out 5 over 6.0 innings. Bryan Baker struck out 1 in a clean seventh inning. Gregory Soto struck out the side but allowed 2 hits in the eighth and Cionel Perez walked the bases loaded in the ninth but did extricate himself from that mess with an inning ending double play.
Simply put, the Baltimore bats had no answer for Crochet.
2025 Record: 3-3
