Saturday’s game at Camden Yards had a few firsts. It was the first “Orange Out Saturday” where fans were encouraged to wear orange even though it looked like the same amount of orange in the stands as any other game. It was the debut of the team’s all orange uniforms as well as the 2025 “hydration station”. The bullpen saw the first save situation of the season and finally, former Oriole Anthony Santander hit his first homerun of the 2025 season.

The Orioles did show a video tribute on the scoreboard for Santander and he received a nice round of applause upon his first at-bat (a 1 to 3 groundout).

When all was said and done, the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 in front of 22,130 fans, most of whom were either wrapped in blankets or wearing hoodies or winter jackets.

Trailing 3-0 after 4 1/2 innings, the Orioles scored a combined 5 runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take a 5-3 lead and then held on for the 5-4 win.

Heston Kjerstad (1 for 3, HR, R, 2 RBI) opened the Baltimore scoring with a two-run homerun to center, his first of the year, in the fifth inning.

Adley Rutschman‘s (1 for 4, HR, R, RBI) solo homerun to center in the sixth ining tied the score at three apiece. Ryan O’Hearn (0 for 2, R, BB) walked and Jordan Westburg (1 for 4, R) singled to set the stage for Cedric Mullins (1 for 2, 2B, R, 2 RBI, BB). Mullins hit a double to the left field wall, scoring O’Hearn and Westburg and advanced to third on a fielding error by Toronto’s Alan Roden.

Tomoyuki Sugano started for Baltimore and allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, including Tony Tater’s first homerun, while walking 2 over 4,2 innings of work. Five relievers combined to finish the game with both Yennier Cano (1.0 IP, H) and Gregory Soto (1.0 IP, K) having yet to allow an earned run.

Bryan Baker (1-0) was credited with the win despite allowing a run on 1 hit with a walk and a strike out in 1.0 inning of work.

Felix Bautista pitched the ninth and walked 2 while striking out 1 and earned the save.
