What we know: Played just 20 games before suffering a sports hernia that eventually led to season ending surgery. During his short season, the left-handed hitting infielder mainly played second base though he did play four games at SS. Started off slow, but was starting get hot when he went on the IL, slashing .283/.485/.370/.854 over his last 14 games over 66 PAs. Has a line drive approach collecting an impressive 28% line drive rate while using an oppo approach.
Collected multiple walks in nine of his 20 games and put up an impressive .489 OBP, a .416 wOBA and a 147 wRC+. His .066 ISO and only four extra base hits shows power is not in his game, but he brings above average speed.
Defensively he’s got a decent tools including an average arm, but he throws high too often and he didn’t show tremendous range. There were some scouts that thought he might be better in the outfield, but the Orioles may want to use him on both the dirt and the outfield to increase his versatility.
What we don’t know: He’s played very little in two years now so he’s still a bit of an unknown professionally. He showed the ability to get on base but without power, that skill tends to deteriorate at the major league level. Can he stick on the dirt?
What we think: Servideo has played so little, but he does have some versatility and tools that make you think he’s got a utility floor at the major league level.
