Wednesday’s 2-1 win over the Texas Rangers gave the Baltimore Orioles a series sweep over their AL West counterparts. The three-game sweep was the first for the Orioles since they swept the Washington Nationals July 23-25, 2021 in Nationals Park.

Spenser Watkins (2-1) looked good in his 11th start of the season. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits, 3 of which were doubles, walked 1 and struck out 3 over 6.2 innings to earn the win. Watkins threw 84 pitches (61 strikes) in the game. Two of the three doubles he allowed were hit in the 5th inning and produced the Rangers’ lone run.

Jorge Lopez earned his 14th save of the year with a 1 hit, 2 strikeout effort in the ninth inning.

The Orioles needed just 4 hits to support Watkins et. al.

Trey Mancini (1 for 4), Adley Rutschman (1 for 2, 1 run scored, 1 walk), Ramon Urias (1 for 2, 1 run scored, 1 walk) and Ryan McKenna (1 for 3, 1 RBI) made up the Orioles winning offense.
