Friday night’s game at Tropicana Field saw the Baltimore Orioles take the Tampa Bay Rays to the woodshed. It started with an Adley Rutschman homerun that hit the C-Ring catwalk in the first inning and ended with a Jorge Mateo single in the ninth. In between those two hits were 17 additional hits and 9 runs. The result was a 10-3 Orioles win.

For good measure, starter Austin Voth (3-1) no-hit the Rays for 5 innings and finished with a final line of 5.1 IP, 2 R, 3 H (1 homerun allowed), 1 BB and 5 K. He was the winning pitcher.

Rutschman went 1 for 3 with the aforementioned homerun, 1 run scored, 2 RBI and a walk while Mateo went 5 for 5 with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.

Cedric Mullins homered and finished the game 3 for 6 with a run scored and 2 RBI.

Anthony Santander went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 runs scored.

Rougned Odor went 4 for 5 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI and Austin Hays joined the party with a 2 for 4, 1 double, 2 runs scored and 1 walk night.

Relievers Keegan Akin (1.0 IP, 2 K), Joey Krehbiel (0.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 K), Cionel Perez (1.0 IP, 2 K) and Louis Head (1.0 IP, 1 K) held the Rays in check.

Former Orioles Shawn Armstrong and Jimmy Yacabonis pitched for Tampa Bay and were shown no mercy.

The win allowed the Orioles to take sole possession of the 3rd Wild Card spot in the AL, one-half game ahead of the Minnesota Twins and the Rays.
